Overview

Many commercial insureds look to the specialty arena to cover their catastrophe exposures. The expertise and experience of our underwriting team, partnered with Endurance's financial strength, provide your retail broker customers and their insureds the advantage of a strong and committed company to serve those needs.

Target Clients

We consider all types of commercial occupancies for catastrophe protection based on the individual risk characteristics. We specialize in risks that are written with multiple layers of coverage provided by multiple insurance carriers. We entertain single location risks as well as large schedules of locations. We consider risks throughout the country including those located in catastrophe prone areas.

Earthquake
Capacity
  • $25M maximum capacity earthquake: All states and areas including: California, New Madrid, Pacific Northwest and Hawaii
Minimum premiums
  • California excess of PML – $1,200 GPM
  • All other locations in other states: Excess of PML – $1,000 GPM
  • Subject to minimum policy premium of $10,000
  • California Primary EQ - subject to minimum policy premium of $50,000 (EQ Zone A & B)/$25,000 (All Other)
Policy Forms
  • We provide Endurance policy forms for the products we offer.
Coverage Features
  • We prefer to provide coverage on a single peril or multiple peril basis for earthquake and/or flood. We also can provide Difference in Conditions policies for earthquake and/or flood policies at the discretion of the underwriter.
Underwriting Capabilities
  • We can consider primary, buffer or excess of PML capacity depending on the risk characteristics. Our underwriters have the ability to be flexible in providing our capacity and have the ability to participate in more than one layer of coverage.
Submission Requirements
  • 5-year loss history
  • Statement of values provided in an electronic format to include: address with zip code, construction, occupancy, year built, number of stories, square footage of building(s) and values by coverage
  • California single location risks built prior to 1975 require documentation of seismic upgrades for underwriting consideration
  • We evaluate insurance to value when underwriting earthquake and flood exposures
Wind
Capacity
  • $15-20M maximum capacity for Florida
  • Risks in other coastal states are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Excess or buffer attachment with minimum attachment of $5M in coastal states
  • Hawaii wind attachment and capacity is based on the individual underwriting merits of the account
Minimum Premiums
  • Subject to minimum policy premium of $25,000
Policy Forms
  • We can provide Endurance forms or consider alternative forms as submitted by the broker subject to underwriting approval.
Coverage Features
  • We have the ability to provide single peril coverage for wind or named windstorm. We can also offer excess all/ risk coverage which provides concurrent terms and conditions in accordance with the primary or underlying coverage the insured has purchased.
Underwriting Capabilities
  • We will consider wind exposed accounts on an excess basis only. We consider buffer layer participations as well as higher excess participations excess of the normal expected loss for other perils on all/risk policies. In Hawaii, we can consider primary participations as well as excess participations and additional capacity based on the individual underwriting merits of the account.
Underwriting Requirements
  • Construction must be joisted masonry or better, no frame
  • Risks within 1/2 mile from the coastline must be of superior construction
  • No island exposures, except Hawaii
  • Will consider writing all risk or named windstorm

Flood – Stand Alone – Zone A

  • $5-10M maximum capacity

  • Minimum deductible is equivalent to NFIP
  • Subject to minimum policy premium – $25,000
